- Scan prints at 600 DPI or higher. Everything here works better with more pixels to sample from.
- Alt-click (or the first click) sets the clone source; then paint. Re-set the source often so you copy matching texture.
- Restoration strength scales the whole adjustment stack, including a per-channel auto-levels pass that stretches faded contrast back out.

No. The overlay finds high-contrast edges and blown or crushed pixels and colours them in so you can spot them, but repair is manual: you clone good pixels over the damage. The sliders handle fading and softness globally.
It brightens pixels whose red/green/blue ratios fall inside a skin-tone range, by a few levels. It is a colour-range adjustment - it does not detect faces, and it will lift anything else in that colour range too.
No. There is nothing to reconstruct from. Clone in matching texture from elsewhere in the print if there is any, otherwise the missing area has to be repainted in a full editor.
